He currently serves as the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer (CEO) of David Castain and Associates;  and is the founder and executive director of the David Castain Foundation which was nationally recognized by Fox News.

David was born in Pomona, California Valley Hospital to Debra Ross, a preschool teacher, and David Castain, a drug dealer who went through extreme measures to preserve his livelihood. As a result of his father’s lifestyle, David and his four siblings were raised in a single parent household utilizing Section 8 (housing) in the rural community of Los Angeles County, California.

Castain grew up watching his mother struggle to make ends meet. Instilling her entrepreneurial spirit in him, she taught him to resale candy bars purchased at wholesale price from Costco as well as hair bows and other seasonal items she had crafted herself to help out with the bills. He was kicked out of multiple high schools before attending Valley View High School, a secondary school for students who have behavioral issues or are at risk of not graduating. He eventually graduated from Alta Loma High School before following in his father’s footsteps and falling victim the allure of easy money and flashy consumer goods that proliferated his neighborhood.

Hanging in the wrong circles as a teenager lead to a legal incident in 2006 that he thought would cost him a chance at strong future and more importantly his freedom. When a second chance came his way two years later, he enrolled at Howard University and vowed to change himself and never again do anything detrimental to his future success.

After becoming a Resident Assistant at Howard University in 2010, Castain began throwing parties. Branding himself as an Event Specialist he subsequently became a trendsetter in the world of sports and entertainment. Dubbed “One of the country’s best promoters” by The Washington Times, while working with Grey Goose . David has organized events, (including Howard Homecomings) with celebrity superstars such as Diddy, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, and Drake. Quickly realizing that expansion is an inherent part of success, David broadened his client base organizing events with Sports Icons such as LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, and John Wall (basketball).

In May of 2013 David graduated from Howard University with a Bachelors in Speech and Applied Communication and a minor in Sociology. He was a part of many organizations including the Theta Tau Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, NAACP, Lambda Pi Eta the National Communication Honors Association, Endustry Power Players (EPP) and the American Red Cross.

Using the momentum created from events, in 2012 he launched David Castain & Associates, a firm that develops unique plans that address all issues involved in the growth of a business: strategy, marketing, pricing, innovation, product development, organization, leadership, and economic competitiveness. Some of his most notable clients have been, Chipotle, Uber (company), Warren Buffets Cort Furniture, Franklin Park Homes, the second largest apartment complex on the East Coast, Fuel Pizza, Z- Burger and FrozenYo, the fastest growing yogurt chain in the nation’s capital.

Committed to giving back to the community, he founded the David Castain Foundation, a nonprofit organization geared towards changing the future of youth who may not otherwise possess the necessary tools and resources to achieve success. This foundation provides youth with an escape to pursue their dreams and aspirations, while being exposed to beneficial programs and workshops like resume writing and college application assistance that are designed to turn those dreams into realities.

In May 2013 he became a student in the number one program in the world for Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Georgetown University. He completed his Master of Professional Studies program in one year and graduated in May of 2014.

Eager to return to home: He continued his academic journey by returning to his Alma Mater, Howard University in August of 2014. He is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Sociology, with a concentration in Medical Sociology and Social Inequality.
